As the door opened and their eyes met, his hands went immediately to his face and he doubled-over. Breathing hard and slightly shaking, guests couldn’t tell whether he was alright. As she approached him and put her hand on his shoulder, he stood up with the broadest smile on his face, a tear in his eye, and told her she looked beautiful.

Later, when I asked him to recount the moment he saw her begin walking down the aisle, he said he was both laughing and crying our of pure joy. He was overwhelmed by all the wonderful emotions you can think of. That second, when their entire relationship came to a pinnacle and he couldn’t control his emotions for his beautiful bride Abby, was the perfect summary of their entire wedding day.

A cloudy, gray morning broke into bright sunshine just minutes before the ceremony began. As guests enjoyed cocktails overlooking the water, storm clouds began to roll in and winds began knocking over tables. An intense thunderstorm gave way to a gorgeous rainbow that everyone celebrated beneath. And finally, a serene sunset capped off the evening. 

The experience of their day was just like Abby and Davon. Full of life, passion, joy and most of all, surprises. Their untraditional ceremony paired with their focus on creating a day their loved ones would enjoy made their intimate wedding the perfect reflection of the two of them, together. I am so honored to have been able to capture it.
