“And most of all, never ever lose that big personality.” Kim wiped away a tear as she finished reading Ben’s letter. A tear that she had fought back as she read page after page of him professing his love, loyalty, and respect for her. That single tear was the perfect symbol of this exciting, overwhelming moment as they prepared to say their marriage vows and unite their lives forever.
In a world where the internet and social media can often cause heartache, I've found that the exact opposite can be just a powerful- it can create true connection, especially when the online moves to real life. My friendship with Caryn began by simply commenting on the same blog post last year…
When I received Emily's inquiry about engagement photos, I was thrilled we would be able to work together. In the midst of her moving back to the US and John going through the US immigration process, Emily hadn't thought about scheduling an engagement session. Luckily, John was going to be in town from Dubai for a week and we were able to make it happen!
As we stepped off the plane and walked onto the tarmac at ACK, I said to Patrick, "Pinch me." I couldn't believe we were actually in Nantucket. Just two weeks before I'd received an email from Jaime asking whether I'd consider traveling to the island to photograph their elopement. A quick peek at my calendar and I answered with a definite and enthusiastic, "YES!" If being asked to travel to a gorgeous location wasn't enough, they welcomed Patrick joining me to both second shoot the wedding and so that we could enjoy a few days together in what they described as "a magical place you should enjoy with someone you love." Seriously, that's what they said. Cue all the heart eyes for this romantic couple.
I got to meet Elvira and her parents Paige and Brian one quiet Sunday morning in their beautiful, sunlight-filled home. From the obvious care taken to decorate her nursery to the way her parents gaze at her with the sweetest grin, it is clear "Vera" is the apple of their eye and the center of their hearts.
I recently had the pleasure of spending one steamy July evening with the sweet Stinehart family. The occasion for their session was baby Carter's first birthday, so he was the intended star of the show, but Lauren and Bradley quickly showed that they are equally photogenic!
As the door opened and their eyes met, his hands went immediately to his face and he doubled-over. Breathing hard and slightly shaking, guests couldn't tell whether he was alright. As she approached him and put her hand on his shoulder, he stood up with the broadest smile on his face, a tear in his eye, and told her she looked beautiful.
It's here! Part III! If I had to choose, I'd say this was my favorite part of Jessica's brand shoot. No, my favorite was the cherry blossoms.. no, the time in her apartment (coming soon!). I love them all.
Five minutes with Paige Fetzer is the equivalent of 12 espresso shots. Her energy and enthusiasm for life is that contagious. She is an incredible combination of fierce, bold, and dynamic mixed with thoughtful, sweet, and kind. I feel so fortunate to say a few hours spent shooting brand content together lead to an immediate friendship. Love you, Paige!
My heart is about to burst. This is one of my most meaningful sessions to date. I met my dear friend Paul early in high school and since first meeting, I have had the pleasure of watching his life unfold in the most magical ways…
Abby and Davon are the kind of couple everyone wants to be around. They are lighthearted, warm, silly, and incredibly kind. Even more, they are major foodies and know all the best spots from Baltimore to Washington, D.C., literally.
Baby Cillian couldn't believe his eyes when we set his little "one" cake down in front of him. His happy parents encouraged him to taste it, but he couldn't help but keep looking up at them with these wide, are-you-sure-I'm-supposed-to eyes. After much coaxing and even a taste from Dad to "show him how it's done," we convinced him that the cake was not, indeed, a trick and that he was allowed to dive in.
When I was three years old, a kitten with a smashed paw showed up on our back steps late one night. My parents thought it had been stepped on by one of the cows next door and immediately rushed it to a family friend veterinarian. When the kitten came home a few days later from the vet with three legs, we had all fallen in love with him. He was now our cat and I was allowed to name him! I don't remember this, but my mom says I immediately said "Luke!" after my best friend at the time :)

Emily perfectly captured our marriage and what is dear to us! Her care and talent in what she does is especially apparent as she easily highlighted what makes our marriage and home special to us. We could not have loved the shoot or the images any more!

Not only did she take amazing engagement pictures for us, but she made us feel comfortable and like our best selves throughout the whole sunrise shoot. We couldn't have asked for anything more! Emily is poised, professional, super friendly, and you'll probably be best friends by the time the shoot is over. These are pictures we'll have for the rest of our lives and we were in great hands with Emily. She's the very best.
